Wambuis Edgar, bruin-zwart Aziatische wapens religious and war scenesThis doublet, also called a gambeson or aketon, was worn under chain mail and plate armor in the late Middle Ages and is virtually indispensable in free and show fighting. The padded garment increases the wearing comfort of armor and also cushions opponent blows. The doublet consists of three layers of fabric: an outer layer of 330gsm cotton canvas, a filling of polyester and an inner lining of cotton. Vertical stitching keeps the filling in place.
