"Pi Franco" (literally "free foot") denotes vines growing on their own roots, a viticultural rarity since phylloxera's 19th century devastation. Cappellano's sandy Serralunga soils allowed these vines to survive. The estate's traditional approachlong maceration, large oak, patienceproduces wines of haunting complexity.
